Overview

This Refresher course provides the basic safety and rescue training required to work in the wind turbine industry.

The course is accredited by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO). 91ÊÓƵ is an exclusive provider of GWO certified training in the ACT and surrounding regional NSW.

Additional Information

The course is internationally accredited by the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) to deliver the required safety and rescue training to work in the wind industry. While this training is not Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) under the VET Quality Framework, 91ÊÓƵ has also mapped the GWO qualification across to Australian Units of Competency which you will also be awarded upon successful completion of the course.
You will be supplied with appropriate PPE. Participants have the option to bring their own full body safety harnesses for use during this course, provided that they are compliant with the industry standard.

Entry Requirements

You must have completed a full Basic Safety Training or Refresher course within the last two years. We will need to check your WINDA qualifications prior to commencing this course to ensure you’re eligibility. Literacy Skills Information

We suggest that you will need Australian Core Skills Framework levels of at least 2 across reading, writing, learning, oral communication and, depending on your course of study, numeracy skills to successfully complete this course. If you do not have this level, you can still enrol and seek support to improve your skills or you may prefer to begin with a lower level course, or enrol in the Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119) to develop your literacy skills. Transition Information

Qualifications at 91ÊÓƵ are regularly updated or replaced to meet current industry needs and maximise your employment opportunities. If this occurs while you are part way through a qualification, you may need to vary your learning to meet the new national requirements. 91ÊÓƵ will aim to make this as smooth as possible for you.

  •   Basic Fire Awareness Refresher - Global Wind Organisation (GWO)
    • 91ÊÓƵ Code: RENW110
      Description: Students that have current GWO qualifications and wish to undertake a safety refresher training course. The participants are able to demonstrate correct actions on discovering a fire including correct operation and fire extinguishing by means of the firefighting equipment in a wind turbine generator (WTG).
      Prerequisites: Nil
  •   Basic Manual Handling Refresher - Global Wind Organisation (GWO)
    • 91ÊÓƵ Code: RENW111
      Description: Students that have current GWO qualifications and wish to undertake a safety refresher training course. The participants are able to demonstrate understanding of the importance of carrying out work duties in a safe and sound manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic location.
      Prerequisites: Nil
  •   Working at Heights Refresher - Global Wind Organisation (GWO)
    • 91ÊÓƵ Code: RENW108
      Description: Students that have current GWO qualifications and wish to undertake a safety refresher training course. The participants are able to demonstrate knowledge of hazards and risks associated with working at heights, specific to a wind turbine generator (WTG).

  •   Basic First Aid Refresher - Global Wind Organisation (GWO)
    • 91ÊÓƵ Code: RENW109
      Description: Students that have current GWO qualifications and wish to undertake a safety refresher training course. The participants are able to demonstrate understanding of the importance of carrying out first aid in a safe manner in accordance with the legislative requirements of their geographic location and according to European Resuscitation Council (ERC) and American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.
      Prerequisites: Nil

In addition to the four GWO modules, students who successfully complete this course will also receive Statements of Attainment for the following national Units of Competency:

• HLTAID009 Provide Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

• UETDRRF004 Rescue from a live, low voltage panel
