Overview

This course provides fundamental skills in Networking, Networked Operating Systems and static website design. You will be introduced to virtual and physical environments and use a range of industry technologies.

This course will engage you with the Cisco Network Academy and learn how to create a peer-to-peer network incorporating wired and virtual networked environments including network protocols and packet tracing. It will enable an understanding of IP addressing, Active Directory Infrastructure and disaster recovery and back up. Using HTML, you will plan, design, and develop a multi-page static website whilst learning key skills including layout, syntax and operability.

Duration:

This course is delivered part time over one (1) semester (approx. 8 hours per week).

It is expected you will spend approximately the same number of hours in private study to practice skills and apply new knowledge.

Classes are completed on campus, face to face and attendance is required. There are dedicated workshops available to support students in understanding and applying the practical application of skills learnt.

The total course cost may vary depending on the choice of elective subjects or if subjects are attempted more than once. Subject costs identified as Standard are partially subsidised by the ACT Government. Concessions may be available to eligible students.

This course provides all the required technical skills to progress to the Certificate IV in Information Technology or Certificate IV in Cyber Security, and students undertaking this course are encouraged to follow this pathway.

Upon enrolment into the course, you are required to make additional purchases of hardware items to use during the dedicated class sessions. This includes:
